Power Players Spotlight: Meet Ryan Amaya

What is your approach to helping clients meet their renewable energy goals?
“My goal is to help clients achieve energy independence, just as I have. I guide them by exploring renewable energy options that suit their needs and empower them to take control of their energy future. Whether they achieve full energy independence or make significant strides toward it, my focus is on providing the right solutions.”

What is your favorite source of renewable energy and why?
“While not technically renewable, nuclear is my favorite clean energy source because of its reliability and wide-ranging applications. It can provide reliable, large-scale power generation with minimal carbon emissions. Solar is another favorite because it played a direct role in helping me achieve energy independence, and I’ve seen firsthand how it can empower others to do the same.”

What project is your favorite and why?
“My favorite project is in New Mexico and this project was a beast—in the best way. I loved the challenge of working across 800 acres and seeing how smart design choices early on saved serious time, money, and headaches down the line.”

What are some of the most important strategies you’ve adopted to help clients achieve energy independence?
“I encourage clients to take a proactive approach, reducing energy consumption first, then investing in clean energy solutions that fit their needs. My approach is always evolving because I believe in continuous learning. As I gain new insights into renewable energy, I adapt my strategies to ensure clients benefit from the latest advancements.”

Why are you passionate about renewable energy?
“It allows energy independence for everyone – it’s the way of the future. People will need to have enough solar on their house because our grid can’t support the amount of energy everybody needs, especially as we look to the future. The grid supports what you can’t, so it helps take a load off the grid.”

Outside of KWRE, what are your favorite hobbies?
“I love cars – looking at them, driving them, watching them race, you name it! I also enjoy spend time with my wife and family, traveling, golfing, barbecuing, and playing pickleball.”
